SUMMARY:Community Tree Planting Day- Knepper Center/Kid Project
DESCRIPTION:Dyersville\, Iowa ~ April 16\, 2026   Thanks to a $3\,000 grant from Alliant Energy's Community Tree \n\nPlanting Program\, Part of the One Million Trees Initiative\, we will be hosting a community planting day \n\non April 29\, 2026\, beginning at 2pm. \n\nThe $3\,000 grant will be used to purchase 20 trees\, (10) Norway Spruce and (10) Red Cedars. These \n\ntrees will help to shade our playground area as well as protect us from the wind. The trees have been \n\nselected for the location with the help of our Trees Forever partners. Part of the grant is the trees all \n\nneed to be planted by volunteers. \n\nAlliant Energy has committed to planting 1 million trees in Iowa and Wisconsin by the end of 2030. As of \n\nJanuary 2026\, they have planted 627\,644 trees. Planting trees provides more shade and cools the air\, \n\nhelping lower energy costs and reduces peak electric demand. Each mature tree sequesters about 1\,000 \n\npounds of CO2 each year\; as our trees grow they'll make our communities healthier and more beautiful \n\nplaces to live. \n\nWe welcome all volunteers from the community as many hands make light work to get these trees \n\nplanted. After school students at The Kid Project will be able to help as well! Bring a shovel and gloves if \n\nyou are able.
