Description
The James Kennedy Public Library is proud to announce our limited edition Social Issues Book Club for Young Adults. In this 6 month series, participants will read one book each month that highlights a particular social issue and discuss it at a meeting. At this first session we will be discussing racial injustice and will be reading Between The World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This session will have a guest presenter, Anderson Sainci of the Dubuque Board of Education. Copies of the book are available to borrow from the library. This book club will be a hybrid program where participants can attend in-person or via Zoom. Please register at https://bit.ly/YASOCIALISSUES if you want to attend virtually and the link will be emailed to you. If you are interested in participating in-person at the library, please call or stop in the library to register to save your seat as space is limited. Those attending in person are encouraged to wear a mask. This program series was made possible by the Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries Grant from the American Library Association.
