DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa and EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. – While this school year is winding to a close, St. Mark Youth Enrichment already has the first day of school on the mind. The organization is preparing for its annual school supply effort to fill school bags with new supplies for students at public and parochial schools in East Dubuque, Dubuque, and Western Dubuque school district areas. Apples for Students is a meaningful opportunity for the community to lift a heavy burden from parents and children by helping students walk into the first day of school with new supplies, confidence, and the same sense of normalcy as their peers. These efforts will impact more than 3,600 students in approximately 30 area elementary, middle, and high schools. Because of generous community support, St. Mark is able to fill a student’s bag with the supplies they need for as little as $59. That gift provides crayons, pencils, notebooks, and other essentials that help a child feel prepared for the school day. Parents already carry so many worries, and school supplies should not have to be one of them. Apples for Students helps deliver not only supplies, but also peace of mind for families. To give during the Community Foundation’s Great Give Day (a one-day only event), visit www.greatgiveday.org/stmarkyouthenrichment on May 20, 2026. To donate, volunteer, or learn more visit www.stmarkyouthenrichment.org, email dcogan@stmarkyouthenrichment.org or call (563) 582-6211 ext 100.
