Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. The theme this year is Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read. This week is a celebration of the freedom to read and the joy that comes from discovering stories that expand our understanding of ourselves and one another. To celebrate, the library will have the You Have The Right to Read exhibit set up in the center of the library. Peruse the four stations and learn about your constitutional right to read, censorship terms and cases, why books matter, how libraries are funded, and how a book ends up on your library’s shelves. Celebrate the fact that you do have the right to read what you want!
